The Race For Touchdown Catches
Today Terrell Owens passed Marvin Harrison for third place all time in touchdown receptions. That led me to look up the all time leaders, which puts the list as such (coming into the 2007 season):
Regardless of who's ahead of whom right now, these three guys will probably all pass Carter soon; if not this year, then certainly next year. And after that, they'll be racing each other for second place. I'd be pretty surprised if any of them got another 70+ TD receptions in their career to challenge Jerry Rice, but these days you can't leave anything out of the realm of possibility. Especially given their situations; Owens has Romo, Harrison has Manning (the good one), and Moss has Brady.
I think it's too early to decide which of them will finish out on top. Moss is the youngest, has the most talent, is part of the most prolific offense, and has possibly the best quarterback throwing to him. But he has the fewest touchdowns of the three.
Regardless, it should be a good race. And with the outside chance that one or more of them could pass Rice for first all time, it just adds even more excitement.
Go Randy Moss!
