NFL Week 11 Picks
I had a pretty good week ... 10-3! The first time I've ever done better than .500, and it feels pretty damn good. I'm sure it was all luck and this week I'll go right back to failure, but I'm still going to savor that sweet taste of victory.
Or, rather, the illusion that I actually know what I'm talking about. Either way.
Also, I'm going to just blow through these picks. I really don't expect that to help.
Denver at Atlanta (-6)
Shanahan's really taking this multi-headed running back system a bit far. So, Ultimate Leader, is confusing fantasy football owners really worth it, when it means your running game is weak? Falcons.
Oakland at Miami (-10)
The Raiders really look like they're done with this season. It's a good thing Jamarcus Russell is getting so much guaranteed money ... otherwise he might feel some pressure to actually make a positive impact on the team at some point. Can someone explain why Russell, an unproven rookie, gets the same contract as Tony Romo? He was actually more expensive, given that they also had to spend a first round pick on him. It makes no sense. Dolphins.
Baltimore at New York Giants (-7)
The Ravens are a pretty good team, and this spread really shows how highly regarded the NFC East is right now. I'm going with the Ravens to beat the spread.
Houston at Indianapolis (-8)
Oh how the mighty have fallen. Texans, your hype is gone and you're back to being a weekly underdog. Enjoy. Colts.
Tennessee (-3) at Jacksonville
No, I'm not picking against the undefeated team until they show me they might lose. Titans.
Chicago at Green Bay (-3.5)
The Bears looked great last week in stopping the Titans' running game, and the Packers looked like crap against the Vikings. Take away the Vikings' penchant for giving up the big play ... and the Packers would have gotten killed. Bears.
Philadelphia (-9) at Cincinnati
I keep thinking the Bengals will beat these big spreads, and they keep on not doing it. I think they're another team that's already thinking about the offseason. Eagles.
New Orleans (-5.5) at Kansas City
Larry Johnson is back! The Chiefs offensive attack is ... probably going to suck even worse than usual now. At least until they change the rules and force the Saints to use women on defense, so Johnson can actually beat them. Wuss. Saints.
Detroit at Carolina (-14)
I think the Lions will go 1-15, like they did a few years ago. Who will they beat? The Vikings, just like before. So, no win this week. Panthers.
Minnesota at Tampa Bay (-4)
I don't see the Vikings' offensive line opening up any holes against the Bucs defense, which means their offense is going to be completely shut down. Again. Buccaneers.
St Louis at San Francisco (-6.5)
The Rams suck. Horribly. 49ers.
Arizona (-3) at Seattle
The Cardinals didn't look good last week, but for some reason they never play well against the 49ers. I think they'll rebound this week and stop the Seahawks. Cardinals.
San Diego at Pittsburgh (-4.5)
The Steelers have seen their share of bad losses this year, and I don't think they're out of the woods yet. Roethlisberger will keep making bad decisions and the offensive line isn't fixed and their running backs are all banged up. Mewelde Moore is not a viable starter. Chargers.
Dallas (-1.5) at Washington
I'm torn on this one. I really think the Redskins will win the game, but I can't see the Cowboys going down here. I mean, can a team that good really choke so hard? The playoffs have started for the Cowboys, and they need to start winning games ... is it possible that they don't play well when it matters most? I say yes. Redskins.
Cleveland at Buffalo (-5.5)
Another Monday Night game for the Browns. Good for them. I think it'll bring out the best in them again, especially since Brady Quinn is playing. He very clearly likes being in the spotlight. I think they should set up some tires on the sideline so he can film an EAS commercial or two during the game. Lame. Also, I don't like the Bills any more; they've looked terrible ever since they foolishly gave their coach a contract extension during the season. Browns.
Should be another exciting week. It really feels like we're closer to the playoffs than Week 11.
Last week: 10-3 Total: 46-63-2
