Greenway Learns, Childress Doesn't

I'd been pretty irritated about a certain play the Vikings made on Sunday, late in the game, when we intercepted a pass but then fumbled it back to the Raiders, giving them another chance to tie the game. I felt it was an unnecessary, foolish mistake. This morning I read something that makes me feel a little bit better about it, and makes it seem likely that it won't happen again (at least not by Chad Greenway):

Teammates had been ribbing Greenway for not trying to return any of
those fumbles for extra yardage. Those words no doubt were floating
through his head in the fourth quarter Sunday when he intercepted a Daunte Culpepper pass. Greenway returned it 2 yards before fumbling himself, giving the Raiders another chance at a desperation scoring drive.

"Next time," Greenway said, "I'm keeping my butt on the ground."

Greenway leads the NFL with 4 fumble recoveries, which is remarkable.

Also, I recommend that you read the first half of that article, about Brad Childress and his secretive, brilliant ideas. Why does Childress think he can be so aloof, when none of his homegrown plays ever work (or even look like they might work, ever)? Childress needs to stop denying that he sucks, and either improve or step down. This continues to be unacceptable.
